I ran the Chicago Spartan Super in September.
Wow.
I had ran several Spartan Sprints before, but this was 8+ miles with over 25 obstacles including wall climbs, log carries, swimming, rope climb, and lots of burpees. Oh yeah, and it was all on muddy, hilly terrain.
It was definitely the most challenging athletic event I've ever been involved in (not saying much). It didn't help that I started cramping terribly about half way through.
The course was as much mental as it was physical and I wondered if I would finish at times.
Through all of that, there is nothing that beats the feeling at the finish line when they put the metal around your neck. This sense of accomplishment rushes over you and suddenly the pain goes away.
It is awesome.
