The Bedel Security Team is excited to welcome its two newest vCISO Specialists, Alex DeLuna and Cory Poupore!
Alex began his career as a banking representative for five years with a corporate bank. During this time, he held various positions in lending services, consumer banking, money movement, and quality assurance. From there, he decided to transition into Information Technology and Information Security where he discovered his passion for protecting consumer information. He currently possesses his BA in Cybersecurity, CompTIA Security+ certificate, and is pursuing a MA in Cybersecurity Management.
Alex believes that having the proper culture and security mindset is essential to creating a successful Information Security Program. He is passionate about collaborating with financial institutions to ensure they are compliant with regulations and prepared to face any challenges they may encounter in today’s digital world.
Alex grew up in southwest Texas, where he resides with his loving family. He enjoys sports, spending time with his daughters, exercising, and being outdoors.
Cory spent the last six years in the telecommunications industry, where he directed loss prevention, security, and safety policy for 32 retail locations. Within that role, Cory gained experience in Compliance, Audit, and Risk Management, while overseeing the daily tasks of multiple locations. Cory has always had a passion for Information Technology and has shifted his focus to apply his investigatory and analytical skills in the world of Information Security.
Cory is a highly motivated problem solver who thrives in a challenging work environment and believes that establishing and updating a detailed security roadmap is critical for financial institutions to shift their risk mitigation strategy from a reactive to a proactive approach.
Cory grew up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where he currently resides with his fiancée and dog. In his free time, he enjoys mountain biking, camping, and sitting down with a good book.
When asked about the two newest editions to the team COO, Stephanie Goetz has this to say:
Alex brings some great education and experience to his role as a vCISO specialist. His previous roles gave him broad experience in banking and his studies are helping him to master the management of a cybersecurity program.
Cory has shown to be a hard worker and very dedicated to learning the vCISO Specialist role. He brings a different perspective to the team from his experience in loss prevention and we are learning there are also many similarities among the two risk management practices.
